Reagan Day proposed by Olson in Illinois House
Illinois lawmakers will consider Feb 6 as Ronald Reagan Day in Illinois via a resolution by Rep Myron Olson. The measure honors Reagan's 79th birthday and Dixon’s ties to his boyhood home at 816 Hennepin Ave. The idea comes from Marlin Misner of the Reagan Home Preservation Foundation and may prompt a Dixon city proclamation.

Medicare program costs rose 113 percent since 1980 while reimbursements lag, some say. Legislative support for closing the reimbursement gap grows as small facilities push for relief in the 1990s.

Byron Board of Education ComEd await tax ruling on Byron Station
Byron The Byron Board of Education and Commonwealth Edison will be notified by mail if the Ogle County Board of Review changes the Byron Station nuclear power plant tax appraisal. Frederic Lane representing the Byron school district and John Elliot of ComEd argued at a hearing. The county’s preliminary next year assessment is 533 million, higher than the current 463 million, while a Hinsdale appraisal places it at 643 million. Lane contends the plant is valued nearer 2.47 billion, citing piping, equipment, storage tanks, and related costs, versus county and Will County figures. The decision was announced Friday afternoon but not released to media until after notice to complainants.
