Tuesday brought sun and record highs across Illinois with Dixon and other cities hitting new January marks. Springfield, Rockford, Moline, Peoria and Chicago registered record or near record highs while residents enjoyed sun and frisbees before a cold front returns.

The FAA ordered inspections of 741 Boeing aircraft from 1980 onward amid wiring concerns in 737 747 757 and 767 models. The directive follows prior actions after a Jan. 11 44 fatalities crash in England and a Jan. 13 directive noting wiring issues on 757 and 737 jets.
