Record warm January days across Illinois as temps spike

Oregonian killed in Byron Savings Center holdup incident

Byron police responded to a holdup call at the Byron Savings Center around 4 22 p m. Garvin E Dalton 49 of Oregon opened fire on himself with a loaded handgun after being coaxed into an adjacent room by a plainclothes officer. The case drew assistance from Ogle County sheriff and coroner offices.

Congress split on raise issue

FAA orders wide Boeing jet wiring inspection

The FAA ordered inspections of 741 Boeing aircraft from 1980 onward amid wiring concerns in 737 747 757 and 767 models. The directive follows prior actions after a Jan. 11 44 fatalities crash in England and a Jan. 13 directive noting wiring issues on 757 and 737 jets.

Judge weighs contempt over ABC North trial report
