Journey from the plains to Los Angeles in 1889
A Dixon Sun correspondent writes of rail travel along the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe route through Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. He reports scorching heat at Needles 118 in the shade, drought, barren stretches, and rich valleys but limited agricultural prospects. The trip ends in Los Angeles on the 12th with friends greeting him. The narrative ends with an invitation to visit The Sun office for wedding or party invitations and printing.
