Brugs and Hond canal wrecked by basalt flood and fire

Accounts describe a 38000 foot deep hole with no water at 4000 feet, a November 1 1:30 event, a volcanic lava surface in Dudzeele and a conflagration that reached Bruges. Damages include a 200 foot wide basalt dyke at the canal, the burning of Dudzeele and about 30000 acres of land. The crater mouth later collapsed and the dowing stream swelled.
