Dr Oliver Everett endorses Emmert’s galvanized iron cistern filter. The device suspends a tube above sediment and filters upward through gravel sand and charcoal. He says it cleans water of inorganic matter and germs better than any other method without boiling.
A reader from Weipezuan recommends Mr Emmert's air pump as a quick success in improving cistern water. The device reportedly makes water good and sweet within a week and is advised to others with poor water quality.
A testimony by A. Topp endorses Mr. Emmert's cistern purifier or Air Pump for forcing air into a cistern. Initially the water tasted bad, but after brief use the water became dense and pleasant to drink.
E Emmert of Dixon Illinois advertises the Emmert Air Pump as a device to force air into cistern water, preventing stagnation and improving drinkable quality. The copy urges wide use and notes prompt order fulfillment from Dixon Illinois.
An 19th century style advertisement asserts water does not run uphill and lists numerous benefits of Dr Jones Red Clover Tonic from Eberhart & Co. including relief from dyspepsia costiveness bad breath piles pimples ague malaria and kidney bladder diseases all for 50 cents.
First class dress making and stamping offered by Mrs M E Tusary at the second house south of Dr Brooks. Ladies invited to inquire about fittings and patterns.
The co partnership between E W and E W Smith under E W Smith & Co is dissolved by mutual consent. All accounts for or against the firm may be settled with E W Smith. August 15 1883.
