Italian tie-maker Pete Filda dies on Ukiah road
Coast notes report Pete Filda, an Italian tie-maker, died Friday at Philbrick's tie camp on Ukiah road after a sudden heart-related collapse. He was single with no known relatives in the country and will be brought here for burial. Holbrook Sells died at Mitchell's Creek Tuesday evening from wounds from a prior injury in France. his wife served as Red Cross nurse in the war. Mr and Mrs Bowdle of Navarro Ridge celebrated a golden wedding on October 3. Miss Marietta Miller, daughter of Mr and Mrs August Miller, married Prescott J Kendall in Los Angeles September 20. Kendall works as an accountant for the Southern Pacific Company and recently moved from San Francisco to Southern California.

Progressive dinner kicks off Cultus Club season
The Cultus Club held its first meeting of the season with an officers’ evening and a progressive dinner. Courses traveled between homes of Mrs. A. Templeton, Mrs. Robert Austin, Mrs. Belle Banker, Mrs. Sam Orr, and Mrs. Mary M. Davis, with lavender yellow red pink rose decorations. The Davis home hosted the final business session led by Mrs. Davis, followed by creed readings, vocal selections by Miss Perry with Mrs. Preston, and a paper on "The Women’s Court" by Mrs. Templeton.
