Berkeley Nov 22 Frances M Joseph a Ukiah sophomore at the University of California was named to the managerial staff of this year's Blue and Gold. Twenty four students were chosen from a larger group of sophomores and upperclassmen for their merit and work. The staff handles the California Year Book business financing sales and profitability and will choose junior editors for next year from among the sophomore staff.

Local Man Killed in Redwood Highway Crash
Bert Rodoni employed at Rockport died of injuries from a Sunday crash when his car left the road and went over the grade south of Briceland on the Redwood highway. His companion Woods escaped by jumping from the machine. They had been visiting Rodoni’s uncle at Briceland and his body was shipped to Concord for burial.

Italian Arrested for Attempted Assault

Mrs. Nelson McClure learns her sister Mrs. Charles E. May and husband have returned from an extensive eastern tour. The Mays, longtime Fresno residents and former local Cora Layton, visited 31 states and Canada, saw World Series games, Niagara Falls, and toured Washington’s government printing office with 8100 employees. The State Board of Health and county and city nurses vaccinated every Indian on local reservations to curb smallpox spread. A concurrent trachoma survey by Dr. P. C. Elwood covered Covelo Laytonville Sherwood Ukiah Hopland and Point Arena in four days. About thirty smallpox cases occurred among Indians but none on reservations. cases were confined to ranches where Indians are employed. Indians are protected. whites must protect themselves.

Humboldt youths jailed for auto theft gang crime
Four young men from Humboldt County who stole a car at Piercy and drove to Willits were brought down from Willits last Saturday to face trial. They appeared a tough group, with three having just completed a 16 day Humboldt County jail stretch.
