At the supervisors meeting this week Ellison Bros withdrew their bid on Section 2 of the Willits-James Creek road project and Christy & Cameron were awarded the contract. The winning bid difference was about $60, Ellison’s bid being lower. Last month the award was held up and granted on condition it be paid from funds other than county general by a 3 to 2 vote.

Armistice Day Observed With Parade Address And Ball
Armistice day was observed with a parade and an address by Congressman Clarence F Lea in front of the courthouse. Atty Charles Kasch, president of the Chamber of Commerce, introduced the speaker who spoke on the World War and postwar problems and clear status of the French debt settlement. The day ended with the American Legion annual ball at the grammar school auditorium last night.

Ukiah high school won the local gridiron game against Mendocino 27 to 0. In the first half Ukiah scored once, with three more touchdowns in the second half. The first string played only in the final quarter, adding two touchdowns and a notable 30 yard run by Trout.
