Old Time Resident Dies by Self-Inflicted Shot Near Cummnes
A 96 year old resident near Cummnes and James Taylor shot himself last Saturday morning in a premeditated act. Born in Canada, he had long been a woodsman and ranch worker in Mendocino County. A coffin was sent from Willits and the funeral occurred at the ranch after an inquest.

Former resident dies in Napa asylum and funeral set
J. H. Schaeffer, once a well known local property owner now owned by the Giorno family, died at the Napa asylum last Friday. His burial will be in this city with funeral services Wednesday under Masonic lodge auspices. A Swiss native born in 1842, he gained notoriety for traps set around his home before his mental collapse. He left no relatives as his wife had died years earlier.

Death of Mrs Hofman shocks Ukiah community
