The California Teachers Association Mendocino and Humboldt divisions held a luncheon session at the Palace hotel to form a more active teachers section in the region. Alma Thompson of Ferndale led about 40 members and Neva Cavanaugh escorted Fort Bragg staff. Rose Soghetti was elected Mendocino secretary. The elementary teachers’ legislative committee also met to review bills affecting schools.

Brother Sister of Reuben Grant Die in England
Reuben Grant learns from England that his oldest sister Mrs Sarah Harvey of Devonshire has died at nearly 88. The eldest brother John died in February at 86. Reuben and his daughter Mrs Dan Layman visited England last fall. In four months four relatives who were visiting have passed away. Grant, one of 13 siblings, now has only four remaining: James and Mary in England Ed in Canada and Reuben in Ukiah.

Annual Spring Program Dance at Hopland High
Hopland grammar school will present its annual spring program and dance Friday evening at 8:00 at Hopland high school auditorium. A benefit for the grammar school student body, the program features the play Cappy Explains a comic highlight with chorus band taps and various musical solos including vocal and instrumental numbers. Seventh grade singer Chitre Vella will perform classical and popular pieces after a praised appearance at the Ulda Business and Professional Women's club. A free supper follows at midnight and dancing continues to two o’clock with Hopland high Swingsters providing the music.

Last Rites for Coast Pioneer Held Saturday
Gust Nelson a Fort Bragg resident born in Sweden on September 21, 1850, was honored at a packed Cannarr funeral home chapel. He sailed as a youth, settled in Coffea’s Cove, later built and operated the Pacific hotel, and owned property on Franklin and Reawoods Ave. Survived by wife Sophie, daughter Mamie Raudie, son Fred, grandchildren Eleanor Duck Helen Nelson Alvin Raudie Lloyd Duck, sister Hilda West. Rev J Lewis Kent officiated. pallbearers included Swanson, Schaefer, Kling, Larson, and Stenberg. Interment at Jose Memorial Park.

Ninety three candidates received third and fourth degrees as Anderson Valley Grange held its regular session.
