Progress of Work on Golden Gate Span
More than 1,000 workers in the San Francisco Bay area, plus quarries, rivet plants, cement and steel facilities, and transport operations, are advancing the Golden Gate Bridge project. The south pier fender is about 30 percent complete, with 8 of 22 sections finished, and 30,000 tons of concrete in place. Marin towers and pylons see rising progress, funding has been boosted by $200,000, and recent bond sales provide funds to speed units before cable spinning.
