Giannini Convicted Under Wylie Law For Dry Territory Liquor Sale
Giannini of Wendling was tried in the Superior court on a charge of selling liquor in dry territory. He was found guilty and sentenced by Judge White to a fine of 360 dollars or a day in jail for each two dollars unpaid. A five day stay was granted to allow payment. The case arose after a Board of Supervisors ordinance raising liquor sale fines to 350 dollars was deemed invalid. The charge thus fell under the Wylie law, making the case eligible for Superior court handling.
