Miss Maytie Utley Back From Helens Visit

Special correspondence from Packville notes Miss Maytie Utley returned after a three week visit in Helens on Wednesday. The Ladies Aid met at Mrs. R. W. Page to sew for Mrs. Harry Redfield last Thursday. Charley Redfield moved to Whitehall last Friday and Mrs. Redfield rode the Saturday train. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Page, Mrs. N. L. Page, Mrs. S. S. Patterson and Mrs. Fay were visitors at Zieglar Springs last week, with Mr. Patterson and Mrs. Fay returning.

City Council fixes 214 mill tax levy with small increase

At a special council meeting Tuesday the annual levy was set at 214 mills, divided into general 1 mill street land 14 mill and library 1 mill, a quarter mill rise from last year. The Dillon report notes no Western city matches such a low rate while license and fine income barely cover city expenses.

Sheriff Pyle accidental gun discharge at Boulette ranch near Feeley station in Deer Lodge county kills Phil Carr during a raid on the rustler gang. Carr and partner Colin had boasted they would not be taken alive as Beaverhead and Silver Bow officers pursued them for horse theft and related felonies across Montana and Idaho.
