Ponsonby City Council Holds Regular Meeting and Extras
Last Friday evening the Ponsonby city council held its postponed regular meeting with approval of the July treasurer and police magistrate reports. Committees found few hazards and ordered them corrected. A plan to meet the San Francisco Bridge Co. chief engineer was noted, with a call for a special meeting. Bills for engineering, printing, and salaries were approved. the county assessor bill was rejected based on attorney general guidance. A funeral for Little George Poindexter Jr. followed, with wide sympathy for the bereaved mother. An estimated 2000 residents debated an extra legislature session to elect a U S senator favoring silver, and adjourned with cheers for western defenders. A fragment of a separate notice advertises a New York puzzle benefiting a press workers home fund.
