Clock System and Statuary Donations for Dillon High School

The Beaverhead County Free High School in Dillon showcases the Fred Frick Electric Self Wind ing clock system with a main battery powered clock and nine connected rooms. It can ring every five minutes, skip after four pm, and be reset for various schedules. The school receives significant statue donations including a seven foot Venus de Milo from Senator W A Clark and multiple busts and paintings from local benefactors and artists.

Pageville Residents Leave for Visits and Schools

Pageville residents plan long trips and new educations as many prepare to travel east. Mrs Seitt and daughter depart for Michigan and Chicago for months. Mrs A B Page goes to Iowa then Michigan and Canada for an indefinite period. Miss May Burtch visits Michigan then Chicago to enter Tilmore training school for nurses.

Man from Big Hole Basin Loses Money in Dillon Robbery

James Riggan and two companions from Big Hole Basin came to Dillon. After a night of drinking the trio checked into a lodging house. Riggan awoke to find his money missing from under his pillow. Police searched for the suspects, but all three remain at large and Riggan left Butte broke.

Beaverhead County High School Board Accepts New Building

The Beaverhead County Free High School board met at County Superintendent Miss Isabelle Rife's office to finalize estimates and accept the new building. Final payments to Staburn & Sanders depend on full material and labor receipts. other bills and furniture were approved. Electric motor for water pumping and lighting fixtures were late, with a force pump in place for emergencies.

Stolen horse and saddle from Gilbert ranch near Dillon

A gray 10 year old horse branded X O on the left thigh and saddle with bridle and spur were taken from a Gilbert ranch barn on fest Friday night. The saddle is a new $50 piece by A J Haines Co Dillon. Descriptions of a suspected thief have been released and a man connected to recent check forgeries is rumored. The thief’s direction is unknown.

Robbery at Dillon Ranch Led to Gypsy Pursuit

Andy Banks reports the theft of diamond rings medals and other jewelry from his ranch south of Dillon worth several hundred dollars. A band of gypsies were pursued and captured on Horse Prairie by Deputy Sheriff Osloway and Banks. They found cheap jewelry but none of the stolen items. The medals held value due to a soldiering honor in the Philippines.

Beaverhead County Declares Sixth Class Status At Session

Beaverhead county commissioners meet in regular session September 2 and September 8, appoint road viewers, approve bridge and road changes, declare county sixth class after assessing Beaverhead 1902 roll between four and five million. Judges named for Dillon and surrounding precincts for the ensuing election. Special session orders assessment of Oregon Short Line Railway track value per mile for tax rolls.

First of the Season Opens at Dillon Opera House

Harry E. Daly and his company open the season at Dillon Opera House on Wednesday September 17 in Chas Townsend's musical farce comedy Wanted A Wife. Daly stars as Bob Sportwick with Ed Pomeroy, William Hutchison, Chas Busch, J E Perry, Frank Anders on, Frank Simmons, Niolette Craig, Jennie French, Marie Summers, Nora Daly and Ohgs. Clay Bascom directs music and new specialties are promised.

Local Humane Society Organizer Visits Dillon

Mrs E Irene Rood of the American Humane Association in Chicago arrives in Dillon to organize a Humane Society here. She stays with H D Woenink at the corner of Atlantic and Moore streets and invites interested residents to help form a local group. Previous societies exist in Billings Livingston Bozeman Anaconda and efforts are noted in Butte Helena Great Falls.
