The Beaverhead County High School and Dillon Public School prep for fall terms. Examinations for high school entrance are underway. Superintendent C L Robbins urges punctual attendance and regular effort, stressing the value of education and fiscal support for public schools.
John A. Taylor wed Julia M. James of Topeka in a quiet Tuesday ceremony at nine oclock performed by Rev Father McGlynn. Only close relatives attended. a breakfast followed at the Banks home. The couple will reside on South Washington Street and be at home after September 15.
Hon. Joseph M. Dixon of Missoula passed through Dillon Tuesday evening en route to the irrigation congress at Boise. He alighted briefly from the train to greet acquaintances as it stopped here.
Cora Ellen Taylor seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Ben Taylor of Dillon died in Murray's hospital Butte last Sunday after appendectomy. The operation was done last Monday and initially seemed successful. Funeral held at Methodist church Dillon with Rev W A Winters officiating. Interment in Mountain View cemetery. The community extends sympathy to the Taylor family.
Assessed valuation listed for all property including real property and improvements excluding railroad. Railroads and their improvements valued separately. Personal property cash value noted, with stock excluded. County funds amount reported as $24,800.85.
A. L. Craig, Great Northern passenger traffic manager, reports a Macedonian level of labor demand across the northwest and west. Railroads will actively recruit workers as farm hands and railroad laborers, potentially hindering harvests in some areas.
The Montana state normal college in Dillon opens its tenth year with record enrollment. 144 students registered this week, up from 97 last year, with dormitories crowded and counties represented across the state except Broadwater. Faculty organized enrollment, class assignments, and regular work. enrollment may reach about 160 by next Monday. The list includes students from Dillon Butte Bozeman and many other towns, with numerous names and home towns noted.
A listed roster shows many Montanans by county and town including Ennis Broadwater missing. The city council met with Mayor White and six councilors present. August police records show nineteen arrests and $510 in fines, with twenty-two additional arrests later released. A west end flooding dispute on Kentuky and Thomson avenues spurred a plan to arrest ditch blockers if flooding recurs. The council discussed business signs and possible new ordinance for electric signs only. Concern rose over a copper ore find at the Iron Mountain Argenta mine and potential future water contamination affecting the city water supply and mains. Bills were audited and allowed.
Republicans of Dillon precincts will meet on Saturday September 8 at 8 pm at the court house to elect delegates and alternates to the county convention in Dillon on Wednesday September 12 1906 all Republicans who will vote in the next general election are urged to attend. Republican County Central Committee.

New rules require proofs to follow published notices, with a 10 day grace for delays due to accidents, and mandate readvertisement if proof is not completed within the allotted window.
The Poinedxter and Orr Livestock Co of Dillon dominated the Silver Bow county fair livestock display bringing five Percherons and other stock to the grand stand. Dr W C Orr rode his saddle horse as judges awarded ribbons including a blue to a black beauty. C A Smith of Dillon showcased an Arabian stallion and plans to keep the Square and Compass exhibit on site.
Charles Gooch and John W. Morton of Dillon own the Carrie Cody claim with Lady Franklin and Margerie in Lemhi county Idaho. Gooch two thirds owner has mined the area for 25 years and built 400 feet of tunnel. ore runs 50 lead 20 oz silver and 5 dollars per ton. He left Dillon with four miners and supplies to return soon.
John A. Cowan of the Butte Argenta mine in Argenta visited Dillon and reported a copper ore lead on the Iron Mountain claim running about 30 feet wide after a 700 foot tunnel. The ore values are lower than hoped, but deeper sinking is planned for several hundred feet and no more drifting will occur at present.
