Landmark of Early Days Torn Down

One of Dillon's oldest landmarks, the Oregon Short Line's red depot at Hogan's alley, was razed by owner Walt Stinson to reuse the lumber in a new house. Built in 1881 or 1882 to replace an earlier shack, the depot served nearly 25 years before the brick structure replaced it. A prior owner moved the building to the alleyhead, where parts were later sold for lumber. The remaining timber was found well preserved.
