On Monday evening at the Dil lon Theatre the Hon. Lee Mantle former United States Senator from Montana will address Dillon and vicinity on campaign issues. Mantle is a highly regarded public speaker and ticket sales should fill the venue. attendees are urged to go early for seating.
Postmaster Scott of Bedrock travels with a barrel of fish for his pond while his nephew plans incubation to raise chickens. Various locals visit, marry, and recover from illness as spring showers freshen dusty roads. Community updates include trips to Dillon, Twin Bridges, and Marysville, plus health and home tips for women and a note on upcoming ranch work and a new lodging house site.
Special correspondence notes a Monday evening dance with attendance and good time reports. Sam Murdock visits from Butte while attending School of Mines. Rochester School opened with sixty pupils and promises larger turnout as W H Gibbons of Dillon leads work with Mrs Garvey absent delaying new room readiness. Trustees strive to equip properly for teachers. Clara Mubller and Leslie are mentioned among attendees.
Special correspondence from Wir show four hundred mutton sheep moved through on their way to Butte. Local residents including H J Selway of Dillon and Mr McLean of Butte were noted callers and travelers. Several carloads of fine sheep arrived for pasturing and C Gordon the Dillon hide buyer was here last week.
Argenta residents organize a dance on the 25th to raise money for the school fund. The event invites all, including candidates from both parties, to support the winter needs. Lafe Boott visited the county seat for winter supplies. John W. Sutherland has moved.
Joseph Moore Dixon Republican congressman nominee, born 1867 in Snow Camp North Carolina, educated at Guilford and Earlham, practicing Montana attorney since 1891, later deputy prosecutor and county attorney, married Carrie Worden with three children. Judge William L Holloway born 1867 in Kirksville Missouri, law graduate 1892, long GOP figure in Gallatin County, district judge since 1900, married Feb 17 1898 to Miss Holmes, with a daughter.
Montana's Joseph M. Dixon, soon-to-be congressman, energizes Dillon audience with praise for his candidacy and the Roosevelt administration. Beaverhead officials vow to back Dixon and he touts irrigation gains, current prosperity, and contrasts with Cleveland era. Continued on Page Ten.
Elizabeth Edith Graeter died suddenly of heart failure at her home after a nervous day at school. She was eighteen, born April 15 1884 in Salisbury New Brunswick, a senior at the county Free High School. Funeral services were held at 2:30 PM with large attendance from the high school, family friends and notable groups.
