Dr Manning A Birge died suddenly at his Dillon home Friday morning at 6 oclock after seven years of ill health. Born in Grand Rapids Michigan about 28 years ago he studied dentistry and moved to Dillon a year ago to practice. He married Florence Rice in Chicago last April. He leaves a widow and a Chicago father. Mrs Birge leaves for Chicago tonight with the body, arriving Monday morning.

On Wednesday clashes erupted at Sugar Point near Walker Minnesota as Sioux and allied tribes attacked troops led by Gen. Bacon.
