President Taft spoke to the Lotus Club in New York detailing the presidency's limits and power. He warned against re nomination eagerness, discussed six year terms, and joked about ex presidents including Bryan while noting world peace aims and constitutional restraint.
A new slide near the northwest corner of the school yard draws cheers from youngsters and curious onlookers. Children climb a ladder of fame, then slide on glassy smooth boards, sometimes using shoes as toboggans or cars for speed as adults smile at the lively scene.
Nelson Ferguson appeared before Justice Hirschman on a plain drunk charge. He pleaded guilty and received a ten day sentence with the option of early release upon good behavior. Sheriff Gosman hopes for several days with no prisoners to allow interior painting and repairs.
Friday night at Dillon station an agent interrupted two would be thieves as one pulled a money drawer from a safe heavy with silver. The pair fled, a bullet wound to Wilson’s head left him paralyzed yet lucid and optimistic, facing possible twenty year terms. Sheriff Gosman’s report noted no suspects matched the description.

In a muddy Saturday game Dillon High School was shut out 80 to 0 by Idaho Falls High School. Idaho Falls used line bucking, punts, end runs and eleven completed forward passes to dominate. Despite the loss, Dillon’s team showed sportsmanship and remains hopeful for a Thanksgiving clash with Butte.
Frank Downs, of the Centennial restaurant, broke both bones in his right leg in a motorcycle spill three miles north of town near the Lauterbach ranch. Drs. Walker and Bond set the fracture, and he was taken to Dillon by Mike Lauterbach. He is reported as doing as well as could be expected.
At the Beaver head club annual meeting Monday evening Charles A. Smith was named president Thomas Scott as vice president E J Callaway secretary treasurer and Jos C Smith Hawley Selway and R B Stephenson named to the board of directors The club plans an annual party and ball around the holidays likely New Year’s Eve.
H G Rodgers spent the week in Butte handling business matters and meetings. He was seen visiting offices and addressing local concerns during his stay.
The Beaverhead County Sunday School Association held its convention at the Dillon Methodist Church with pastors from four churches and speakers including Rev. J. A. Alford and Rev. J. M. Ross. The program featured five minute talks, discussions, special music, and practical addresses on Sunday school work and community impact. President R. R. Price chaired sessions.
The convention featured a young speaker not yet a minister who carries himself with the right bearing. Officers for the coming year were elected with slight changes: President R R Price, Vice President E R Featherly, Secretary Treasurer Prof F L H Garver. Superintendents include Primary Mrs C W Robinson, Secondary Mrs P F E Dodds, Adult 8 A Williamson, Mission Miss Jean Bishop, Temperance E M Yeaman, Home Rev Jesse Lacklen, Teachers' Training Robert Clark.

Higher certificates, new buildings, improved equipment, and higher salaries accompany increased teacher and pupil attendance, driven by community support and parent involvement.

Erwin and Scully visited Martin last Saturday and found him cheerful despite possible complications.
Governor Norris gains backing from ex Senator W A Clark and many prominent men as influence and pressure aim to secure the interior secretary post under Wilson. Dillon largely favors the appointment and may trigger a non partisan public action.
A Dillon court house sale will offer about fifty state land tracts next Wednesday the 7th. All parcels are cash or 15 percent down with 20 equal annual payments at 5 percent interest. Coal gas and oil rights are reserved by the state. Appraised values range from 10 to 40 dollars per acre and no tract may be sold below its appraisal.
At a Wednesday meeting the Beaverhead County Free High School Board discussed sites for a new gymnasium and facilities. The board favors east campus expansion or nearby grounds at a low price, reviews offered tracts, and considers plans from local architects. A $30 000 bond-funded budget covers grounds building and equipment, with descriptions sought of comparable buildings for useful features.
