Judge Bhatwe J. Galbraith Sworn In For Fifth Judicial District
The election canvassed by the state board confirms J. Galbraith of Dillon was duly elected judge of the Fifth Judicial District which includes Beaverhead Madison and Jefferson counties. He took the oath in the Probate Court room in Dillon on November 6 1858 and pledged to uphold the US and Montana constitutions and discharge duties faithfully. Richard Z. Thomas was appointed acting clerk. bonds of 26000 were posted. The district court terms were set for Jefferson Beaverhead and Madison counties with first Mondays in February April March and May respectively.
