S V Stewart opposing a proposed consolidation of the University of Montana the state college of agriculture and mechanic arts at Bozeman and the state school of mines at Butte He urges careful study of the bill and warns the commission of five university presidents will select a site within five miles of Bozeman or Missoula and may foster sectional bitterness.

Mrs Bettie Landon Dies After Illness in Dillon
Mrs Bettie Landon aged 58 died May 28 after several weeks illness due to pneumonia. Born Bettie N Wood in Kentucky January 12 1856 she moved to Montana in 1880 with her husband Frank Landon and lived on a Blacktail valley ranch before moving to Dillon. Survived by one daughter Mrs Fred Carter of Seattle Washington the funeral was held at the M E church with Rev A W Hamilton and burial at Mountain View cemetery. Pallbearers were John T Orr Bert Orr J H Gilbert R R Rathbone Frank Eliel and Isaac Edinger.

Deputy Sheriff Charles Drake, wounded by a suspected storehouse robber, died in the hospital last week. He pressed the pursuit into a thicket near the railroad yards where an exchange of shots occurred.

Shriners Have Fine Trip From Dillon Delegation
President J E Monroe returned to Dillon after a sixteen day trip to Atlanta to attend the Imperial Counsel Ancient Arabic Nobles of the Mystic Shrine where over one hundred thousand shriners gathered the largest fraternal order meeting in U S history. Forty eight delegates from Montana attended with eighteen Blackfeet Indians in the parade praised as the best by Atlanta papers. The Montana group rode a thirty two piece Georgia Tech band in cowboy regalia as they paraded with dances and a calfskin banner reading Montana misread as bearskin.

Shriners Enjoy Free Savannah Trip and Tybee Island Ride
The Shriners gave Montana guests a complimentary tour of Savannah and Tybee Island with open streets and free rides. They traveled from Montana through snowy Dakotas to the Atlantic coast where the surf met a 92 degree day. Mr. Monroe praised southern hospitality and said he was glad to return home.

King of Bing Bong musical comedy shines at Pastime
Last Thursday and Friday evenings the King of Bing Bong played at the Pastime theatre in Dillon. A portion of proceeds will support good baseball this summer. The one act show featured home talent with trained singers in leading roles. Mrs Ella Pruett Wales made her Dillon debut with notable numbers and the Wales couple led the cast alongside George Melton and Miss Caroline Stoller. Reno and his wife directed and handled costumes scenery and makeup.

Beav erhead Farmer Narrowly Survives Night Crash
Beaverhead valley farmer Clayton Schuler had a narrow escape after his car crossed an eight foot bank near the City water works reservoir. He was badly cut with a broken collar bone from windshield glass, dragged himself to Dillon for a surgeon, and survived after his car suffered about forty dollars in damage.

Consolidation of Banks in Billings Under Federal Reserve Act

Block Signal System to Begin on Northern Pacific
Work starts this week on automatic electric block signals between Livingston and Toston. Reconstruction of all telephone and telegraph lines from Livingston to Missoula will proceed. Four crews from Helena depart this week to undertake the project, a large summer undertaking per the Helena Record.
