County officials and planners seek guidance on nominating petitions and signatures under the new primary law. Attorney General guidance outlines filing by petition, required two percent county party vote signatures, precinct-based copies, and multi-precinct petitions joined for same candidate.

South Omaha May 12 Our fat steer market was weak with some sales ten cents lower and some buyers passing. Cows and heifers remained in steady demand, stockers selling readily, vealers 8 to 11, bulls and stags 6.50 to 7.50, feeders 7.50 to 8.24. Hog market declined sharply with bulk 8.15 to 8.20, top 8.25. Sheep and lambs rose amid an erratic overall market ahead of the Western run.
The annual field day program on the Normal campus next Friday May 22 will showcase the Senior class military drill led by Miss Anna Sullivan. Juniors under Miss Helen Greenough will perform a Spanish dance. Freshmen present a Swedish folk dance led by Miss Mabel Edwards. Prep class pennant drill under Miss Iva Benidiet features scarlet and gray colors.
Sheriff Erwin and Bob Fisher of Anaconda traced a team of horses stolen from Mr. Fisher. The posse found the horses in Bannack and returned to Anaconda by train. Fisher will drive the horses home.
Sunday school at 10 a.m. and morning sermon at 11 a.m. with the topic Home Training. Evening services follow with B Y P U at 7 p.m. and a preaching hour at 8 p.m. A. R. Hardy.
Northern Pacific announces cash premiums to promote Montana resources at the state fair September 21 to 26. Awards total 1500 in gold for best grain collections, 50 in gold for forage crops, 30 for best white oats sheaves, plus a large fruit cake prize for canned fruit. Open to all Montana farmers and housewives.
A Montana writer extols the state claiming broader prairies than Kanse, more mountains than Colorado, greater timber and resources than multiple states, and superior power, minerals, and cattle prospects. He urges investment and labor in Montana as the lucrative opportunity.

The San Francisco exposition organizers praise the Montana coin program as a success and consider expanding to other states. Abraham G. Lewis was awarded one thousand dollars damages by a district court jury against Charles Steele in a suit connected to the death of Mrs. Rose A. Lewis. The 1913 crash occurred as Ralph Steele, driving to a dance with school friends, struck Mrs. Lewis who stood on a street crossing. Steele intends to appeal to the supreme court.
Abstracts show transfers of 160 acres on upper Blacktail Deer creek and 183.69 acres on same creek to different buyers. Numerous lot transfers in Wisdom and Dillon Original, with prices from 1 to 31,600. Mining claims in Elkhorn district include quartz lodes and mineral hill locations with various half interests and one stake for Wesalla springs water rights.
A state department bulletin blames excessive spring grazing for range deterioration in western grazing lands. It urges deferred grazing on protected sections until seed maturity, then gradual reintroduction, enabling vegetation recovery and improved forage for beef and mutton.
Gallatin county tops the Montana interscholastic meet after the first day with 18 points led by Howard of Gallatin who set a state high jump mark of 5 feet 7 1/2 inches. Missoula 7, Great Falls West 6, Victor 3, Butte and Flathead 1 each. several records possible if weather holds.
M. E. Barry, an automobile man from Butte, spent this week in Dillon attending to business matters and meeting local dealers.
Senior class presents True Blue at the Normal auditorium to raise funds for publishing the Chinook yearbook. Miss Agyness Scott and Mrs. E J Callaway lead the cast with experienced Tadics in charge and the Normal orchestra providing music for the performance.
The Methodist church will observe Young Peoples Day this Sunday. The morning sermon titled The Unfolding Life will be delivered by the pastor, followed by The Problem of Knowledge in the evening. Sunday school children are asked to attend the morning service, and their parents are invited. A special invitation is extended to local youths to attend both services.
Mrs. Cushing attends the state meeting of the Woman's Relief Corps in Missoula. She plans a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moore after the gathering.
