Dillon stock judging team wins at Bozeman meet
The Dillon High School stock judging team placed first in horses and cattle and second in sheep at the state contest in Bozeman. Members were Bob Peterson Andy Gilbert Harold Johnson with George Shaffner as alternate. Peterson was second in individual judging and Gilbert ninth. Joe Ritchell 12th in shop contest. 86 teams entered.

Youths Return to Ogden School After Robbery Case
Parole officer C H Peterson brought Duane and Donald Griffith to Ogden Utah after they were jailed on a robbery charge at Selner Jewelry and City Drug. They were on parole from the Utah State Industrial School and will serve about 11 months for leaving parole. All stolen goods were recovered in Butte, leading to dropped charges locally.

Robbers Seize Clothing Loot From Dell Store
Robbers gained entry to the Dell general store run by Pascal Bimat on Friday night and looted clothing and merchandise. The haul included 20 wool shirts 16 dress shirts underwear socks waist overalls boots and four wool blankets before the night lock and glass pane were breached. The sheriff was notified Saturday morning and nearby towns were advised.

Former Grant Resident John Wesley Salmon Dies in Seattle
John Wesley Salmon, 74, longtime Grant County resident and Minnesota native, died last Saturday in Seattle. He ranched on the Upper Horse Prairie since 1888 and leaves a brother Arthur Salmon of Grant and several nieces and nephews. Body to Dillon for interment with services Thursday at 2 PM at the Methodist church.

Two Golf Tournaments At Dillon Country Club
After hospital work on Sunday ten Dillon Country Club members played a blind bogey tournament for the J C Penney trophy with O A Bergeson first and F C Willis and Guy Combs tied for second. Ladies competed for the State Bank and Trust Co trophy with Mrs A H Mc Farland first, Mrs Anson Baxter second, and Mrs Fred Waldorf third. A picnic breakfast followed at Dillmont Park with Mrs W C Ensign as a guest. No tournaments next Sunday May 8 but a mixed foursome event with handicap ratings is planned for the Sunday after.

Barrett Hospital Grounds Improved Through Community Effort
About 300 volunteers gathered Sunday at Barrett Hospital in Dilfon to execute the town’s largest community project. They planted seven rows of trees forming a shelter belt, built a fence around the property, added small evergreens, enriched soil with fertilizer, and created a stock pass. A noon picnic followed at the Cornell grove, hosted by the Legion auxiliary and other groups, with supervision by the forestry department and Rev. H N Tragitt.

English Wins District Meet in Butte
Beaverhead high school track tied with Anaconda for sixth place with 54-6 points in the district meet held Saturday in Butte. English cleared 1 ft 9 in in the pole vault and tied for third in the high jump at 5 ft 2 in. Willow track collegians did not place in other events as Butte High won the meet. Attendees included Lloyd and Thurman English and several teammates.
