Rancher William Rodden Missing After Weeklong Search
Libby residents discontinue hope of finding rancher William Rodden alive after a week of forest searches south of Loon Lake. A campfire found at his first-night site suggests he may have suffered an accident, heart issue, or been shot. Rodden, 16 years old, had lived near the Silver Butte River mouth since 1911 and was visiting Elk Creek when he vanished. His tracks led to an abandoned fog cabin with no fire, implying he spent the night there facing the embers.
