Man Charged With Forgery After Check Swindle
Former Dillon resident Dan Burkholder is in county jail with forgery charges to be filed. The incident began when station agent C Furry at Arlee lost a check found by Indian James Vanderburg who then presented Burkholder with it. Burkholder traveled to Missoula and attempted to impersonate Furry at a local bank by endorsing the check as Furry, but he did not succeed.

Sophia White Axe born January 1839 in Coch octon Ohio died at her Washington street home at 4 25 PM after months of liver illness. A charter Methodist member and pioneer, she crossed plains with Nathaniel Axe arriving in Montana in 1866. Funeral planned for Sunday at 3 PM at the M E church with Rev Hamilton officiating.

Driver and Team Killed Near Miles Sawmill
Clarence Bourne aged 19, a wagon driver at the Miles sawmill eight miles northwest of Stevensville, was killed when a load of about 2 000 feet of logs rolled over him after he fell from the wagon. The team followed, dragging the wagon down the mountain. both horses died.
