Barley vs corn hog feeding experiments show barley nearly as effective
Wisconsin experiment compares barley meal with corn meal for fattening hogs. In eight weeks the barley group gained 601 pounds from 2,832 pounds of barley while the corn group gained 713 pounds from 3,100 pounds of corn, indicating barley needs about 8 percent more feed for the same gain yet supports bone and muscle and offers variety.
