Lightning hits town causing chimney damage and power outages
A Tuesday electrical storm shattered the Dillon home of Wm McKinley ripping the chimney and roof while throwing Mrs. McKinley from her chair. The U P water tank pole and several Orr Electric transformers were damaged. A ranch horse died at Chas Padley’s place and court house area lights failed due to struck poles and fires.

Montana stockman believed dying from morphine overdose
Riley Thompson of Sheridan, Montana, a wealthy stockman, was thought to be dying in Oakland Hospital after allegedly taking quarter grain morphine tablets for pain. He had been staying in San Jose with J. C. Ballard and accompanied him to Oakland when ill, later remaining in a stupor.
