Car Door Opens Life Is Saved
W J Dawes of Big Hole Basin ranch escaped severe injury when his car backed down a steep Rocky Hill grade near Road Agent Rock on Bannack road and rolled three times. The right rear door opened, stopping the wreck with Dawes clinging under the steering wheel. He walked to a nearby homestead for treatment, then returned to salvage supplies. Dawes avoided fatal harm due to the door opening and rear cargo blocking top crush. He declined further medical care in Dillon, preferring home near Jackson. Sheriff Mooney and Doc Inwin investigated.
