Repairing the Cable Minia Sets Out for Mid Atlantic Work
The cable ship Minia departed Queenstown to repair an Anglo company cable buried 2300 fathoms deep in the mid Atlantic. Overhaul will span several hundred miles with defective sections cut out and new lengths spliced. Minia carries 500 miles of new cable, half of which is expected to be used. Some think laying a new cable would be cheaper in the end.
