A private Santa Barbara letter reports William Woods known as Billy died May 31 after a gun misfire while he was shooting. He lived around 24 hours after being shot. He formerly lived in the valley on Beav erhead across the river from J. F. Bishop and moved to Southern California about 12 years ago.

Virginia L Pickman widow of Dr H D Pickman died at home in Pontie Michigan on Monday June 5 1899 after a long illness with grip and ear trouble. Despite treatment and an operation on one ear she grew weaker and passed away surrounded by relatives and friends. She was active in church and charity and beloved by many in Dillon Montana and the county. Express Agent W D Brown received a letter about a Union Pacific robbery at Wilcox Wyoming where a western department report described a failed dynamite attack on train No 1 with a shipment of currency from the U S Treasury including 3400 incomplete notes and various denominations and serial numbers.
