Memorial Day Observance Honors War Dead in Dillon
Memorial Day ceremonies under the American Legion auspices were held in Dillon with a program at the public school auditorium and grave decorations at Mountain View cemetery. Rain shortened plans for a parade, but Boy Scouts, veterans, and community groups rallied to a sizable program featuring speeches, poetry, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, and a streamer award for Scout growth. Taps concluded the observance with a cemetery wreathing ceremony and a community luncheon at City Hall.
