Armstead business men rushed portable extinguishers to the scene aiding volunteers to control a shingles fire at the Union Pacific depot Saturday afternoon. Sparks from a southbound locomotive started the blaze and damaged the roof before the fire was brought under control.

Bear Intervenes as Anglers Flee Trout Capture
On a Pear lake creek in Birch creek Mrs. Pete Westergard hooked a trout but her mother Mrs. Jack Porter spotted a large brown bear near them. The two women fled through down timber with remarkable speed, abandoning the catch to safety.

Old Time Dance Draws Big Crowd at Dillmont Park
A large crowd attended the Dillmont park old time dance Saturday night with Don's Dance band providing a varied program. The event cleared 70 dollars added to funds for the park and playground project, and the Old Fashioned Dancing club thanks the community for strong support.
