Sheriff Arrests W. T. Anderson On Cow Theft Charge
Sheriff Gist arrested W. T. Anderson in Dewey after he was brought before Justice Rich on a charge of stealing a cow belonging to Bushnell of Butte. Anderson pleaded not guilty, posted $1000 bond, and was to return July 28, 1903. He returned home Monday evening. The cow has been in dispute since 1900, with Bushnell and Anderson tied to the alleged ownership, and a prior inspection shaved the cow to reveal a brand but failed to locate it.
