Montana readers are told that William Jennings Bryan will address crowds in Butte on his way to the National Park. Local interest grows as Great Falls and Anaconda residents await his visitation and support.
Harper's Weekly notes Chicago will construct an 80 mile waterfront boulevard along Lake Michigan to connect with Milwaukee. The road is praised as a premier waterfront thoroughfare, with New York's Riverside Drive appearing small by comparison in scope and beauty.
Richard John Seddon, New Zealand premier, arriving in Chicago en route to England, tells a reporter that New Zealand leads in railroad travel and road quality. He notes our sleeping car arrangements differ, but compares American trains favorably and boasts tarred plank streets with concrete foundations surfaced in asphalt.
The New York Tribune describes a multikeel ship with flat bottom and five or seven keels, claiming higher carrying capacity and speed. The design features a spoon shaped bow and stern, two sternposts, two linked rudders, and two propellers. The craft supposedly turns in its own length and steers well both ahead and astern in smooth water.
Australia weighs sweeping socialist reforms with a plan to divide the country into medical districts funded by a statewide poll tax of two dollars annually.
