Passing of the Montana Pioneer William P. McGinn
Anaconda July 4. William P. McGinn a Montana pioneer since 1865 died at 7:80 this morning at his home with his niece Mrs Leo LaSalle. Born December 14 1832 in New York state he lived a rugged life from Erie canal cabin boy to miner and trader in Ophir Utah Corinne Butte and Virginia City He worked in the quartermaster service Dakota and Colorado and later worked with Marcus Daly in Montana A Democrat with strong ties to Republican Senator Wilbur P. Sanders his death closes a storied western career.
