Dillon Fair and Racing Meet Opens With Big Crowd
The Dillon Fair and Racing association summer meeting began Tuesday afternoon with strong crowds despite threatening weather. Sam Jones won the half mile dash in 50. Flora 4 followed, Not Yet placed third. The mile dash saw Spoon and Idaho Chief contend with Gussie taking the lead and ultimately winning. Several heats of the 2:95 trot favored Ottinger, Condee, and Georgie Woodthorpe with record-breaking excitement. Daisy ONeil won the eight-heat pony trot, drawing heavy betting and attention from locals.
