China Susie Died in Dillon After Long Hard Life
China Susie a pioneer Chinese woman of Virginia City and Dillon died this week in Dillon and was buried in Mountain View cemetery. She was 59. Sold into slavery at 14 she spent 45 years in the United States and Montana. She built a small fortune years ago, lost it twice to romantic ventures, and died in poverty with friends wrapping her body in fine silks. Two Celestials followed the funeral procession, scattering paper along the road to deter theft by Satanic majesty.
