Change in Hotel Management at Rochester 1822
The Longley Hotel changed hands on January 12 with A J Dorland of Butte as new proprietor. Clay Longley and family returned to Butte. Mrs Brazill resumed use of the Rochester hotel and D J Carey moved back to Butte. Roy Watkins of Rochester and May Hamilton of Twin Bridges wed last Thursday at the Bridges. The Lindsay Dramatic Co. performed two nights last week.

Dillon Girls Defeat Butte Business College in Debut Match
Dillon's first girls basketball game at the Dillon Theatre resulted in a decisive 15 to 2 victory over the Butte Business College team. Mamie McIntosh was fouled out, Mamie Adams starred as forward, and Dillon dominated both innings while receiving praise from fans and officials.

A fair sized audience greeted the Monroe & Sage company in Rupert of Hendzau on Wednesday evening. The production followed last week's The Prisoner of Zenda with Harry Leighton as Rudolph Rassendy and Ralph Lewis as Sapt receiving applause. Charlotte Tittle was replaced by Elenor Carr as the queen, whose strong performance helped overcome initial disappointment.

Judge DeWitt remembered as top Montana lawyer and judge
William H. DeWitt died at his Butte home after a long legal career spanning Helena and Butte. Born in New York in 1853, he graduated from Hamilton College and Columbia Law, served as U.S. district attorney for Montana, state supreme court justice, and county attorney for Silver Bow. He practiced law until his death and was a longtime Montana Republican national committeeman. He married Julia Ramley in 1883 in Helena.

Dillon and Basin Telephone Company Incorporation Noted
The Dillon and Basin Telephone Company is incorporated in Montana to build a 50 mile metallic line from Bannack to Wisdom. It will connect with the Rocky Mountain system at Bannack and serve 1200 to 1500 residents in Grasshopper and Big Hole basins. Directors for three months are B O Fournier Duke Gist George Woodworth and A J Noyes.
