Registration and concerts mark winter term at Normal College

Winter quarter registration at the Normal college stands at 281 with 80 men among the enrollees, higher than autumn. On February 1 at 8 15 p at the auditorium, Mario Silveira and Edna Nardine perform, drawing music lovers. The college highlights catalogues from 1897 onward and notes former president H H Swain’s role. the School of Music lists 53 students and several alumni now notable in Dillon.

Death claims child of Lima couple

Mary Louise Foster nine months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Foster Jr. of Lima, died Friday at the family home. She is survived by her parents, grandparents Herbert Foster Sr. of Lima, grandmother Louise Coulson of Idaho, and several Lima Idaho uncles and aunts. Funeral services were held Monday at the Lima Methodist church with Rev. J. A. Meeke officiating, interment followed in the cemetery there.

Government Radio Station Foreseen For National Parks Airs

A government radio broadcasting station may be established soon to relay weather reports and other information to National Parks Airways pilots. It will draw power from the Beaverhead Transmission line and use the newly equipped air port features including a rooftop beacon formerly at the Andrus hotel.

Elks Plan Purple Bubble Ball at City Hall

Dillon Elks finalize plans for the Purple Bubble ball to be held at the city hall auditorium Saturday night Feb 6. Invitations go to every lodge in Western Montana and attendance is expected to be large. Officers and members wearing uniforms are requested to wear them, others are asked to obtain outfits if possible.

Herds In Basin Haven’t Suffered From Cold Spell

Frank A. Hazelbaker reports from C Bar D ranch that Big Hole basin cattle withstood three weeks of severe weather. Temperatures fell to around 45 below zero, yet livestock are described as in good condition with ample hay. Snowfall is below normal but water should be ample for irrigation next summer. roads remain open with chains advised.

Beavers Break Even in Week End Games

Butte Central rallied for a 24-18 win over Beaverhead high at the Normal gym Friday night. The Beavers led 12-5 at halftime before a seven point rally by M. Conlan tied the game and R. McCormick put Central ahead. Gibbons and Wheat starred for Beaverhead while O Neill and R. McCormick led the visitors. St. Peters fell to Beaverhead 26-13 in a later district match at the Normal gym with Fairbanks scoring 11 for Beaverhead and Daniels 5 for the visitors. Officials Olsen and Bierrum.

Dinner at Beaverhead County High School Hosts Board Members

A Beaverhead County High School dinner was held Wednesday at 6 p.m. hosted by home economics students. Attendees included the high school board and their wives, with faculty members and guests enjoying performances by the Birla free club and others.

Bulldogs on Trip Win One Lose Two

The Normal college Bulldogs won at Helena 44 to 20 over Carroll College with McGinley scoring 18. They then lost at Great Falls 50 to 40 against Intermountain and fell to the Northern Lights at Havre 35 to 21. Krush was too ill to play in the Intermountain and Havre games.

City League Unbeaten Teams Triumph in Close Court Games

In a Thursday league doubleheader at Normal court two undefeated teams and a third win in a tight series. Gosman beat Normal Pups 16 to 11 while Eliel's downed Coast-to-Coast 18 to 11 and Westwoods defeated High School B 25 to 16. Montana Education Association to Meet in Beaverhead

Beaverhead local of the Montana Education Association will hold a dinner meeting at 6 o clock Thursday evening January 21 at the Andris hotel. Roscoe Thomas of Butte spoke at the Dillon Rotary on federal income taxation. He discussed equity in tax burden, the sixteenth amendment, and how definitions of income affect collection amid court decisions and regulatory confusion.
