A 17 year old boy Jack Maher and accomplice Paul Hermister escaped from a sheriff's train transfer at Moscow Idaho while en route to St Anthony Idaho Industrial School. They were recaptured hours later about seven miles north of town by Undersheriff Hartwig after being tracked by matron Mrs. Cooke. Maher had previously resided in Dillon and was not missed until the Armstead stop.
