Beaverhead County Finances Detailed in Clerk Baker's Report

Beaverhead County Clerk and Recorder John 5. Baker releases the most complete annual financial report by any incumbent. The eleven page document details state, county, and school funds, a full county bond statement, school district finances, 1904 and 1905 tax data, licenses, delinquencies, road and poor taxes, and the County Free High School indebtedness. The report shows total liabilities and expenditures, and summarizes district expenditures and bonded indebtedness through December 1, 1905.

City Council Reports December Arrests and Water Rents

The council reviewed police reports showing 29 arrests in December with fines totaling 635 dollars, 450 of which were for gambling. Water commissioner Badcon reported 15 taps in the last quarter and 250 users, rents totaling 1 560.98, with normal college and high school rents not included. The panel declined extra arc lights and granted Dillon Realty’s land withdrawal request, passed city civil engineer and sewerage ordinances, and noted no fires since the last report.

High School Course Revisions Strengthen Curriculum

Principal Foote announces new year changes in Classical English Scientific and Commercial courses. Classical adds physics and a modern language while English adds electives and Required Reading. Remey Goes On Trial For Wolf Creek Murder In Helena

Camille Frederick Remey, a French national, stands trial in Helena district court for the murder of Wason J. Oliver near Wolf Creek Montana on September 23. The Helena Record details witness testimony from Augusta Dearborn Crossing and Prairie Creek sites, Oliver family reactions, and courtroom proceedings as state witnesses place Remey with Oliver before the crime.

Lemhi Indians to Transfer to Fort Hall Reservation

Major McLoughlin, U. S. Indian inspector, has secured signatures from Lemhi Indians on an agreement to move to the Fort Hall reservation near Pocatello. Most have signed and removal is slated for next spring. The Lemhi tract covers eight by twenty one miles with about 3000 acres of arable land and extensive grazing, and will eventually be opened to settlement benefiting Lemhi county.

Idaho Falls Couple Elopes in Dillon Marriage Elation

Hodge Koonce George R Koonce and Mrs May Hodge of Idaho Falls traveled by afternoon train to Dillon to obtain a quick marriage license from Clerk Frank A Hazelbaker. They wed at Metlen HotelParlors with Justice A A Elliott performing the ceremony before returning home that evening. Dillon celebrated New Year with open house as ladies hosted gatherings at multiple homes. Guests, numbering about a hundred gentlemen, enjoyed refined hospitality, decorative rooms, and original presentation cards showing festive artistry. Steal Coal Ring Brought to Justice by Judge Elliott

Over the past week Justice of the Peace A A Elliott handled multiple petit larceny cases in Beaverhead County. Mexicans Daniel Garcia and Antonia Garcia were fined eight dollars each for coal theft. Robert Reder and Peter Delany received thirty day jail terms for stealing a trunk near Blacktail Creek. Six others including Will McLang John Riley Joe Miller J B Miller and Jim Phillips were fined two hundred dollars each for stealing one thousand pounds of coal and were warned of harsher penalties to come. The thefts occurred during cold weather and involved repeated trips to steal coal from a car and shed.
