Want Hammer Declared Bankrupt
Aston H. Wolf Henry J. Fitzgerald and Sweet Dempster and Co all of Chicago filed a petition in U S court yesterday to declare N E B Hammer of Dillon bankrupt. They claim debts of about 1000 dollars and provable claims over 500 dollars plus alleged insolvency and a transfer of clothing stock on Oct 21 1899 to the First National Bank of Dillon to prefer that lender over others.

R. T. Boatman Acquitted in Stock Shipment Case
R T Boatman was tried and acquitted by a Madison county jury in Justice Smith's court for shipping stock out of state without inspection. Witnesses testified Boatman wired the stock inspector five days before Melrose shipment, but the inspector did not appear and the stock was shipped out of state. The jury found him not guilty.
