James P Murray dies at 70 at Dillon area ranch
James P. Murray, aged 70, died yesterday afternoon at his ranch five miles north of Dillon after a long illness. He served as sheriff of the county starting in 1879, later profited in stock farming, and was a Montana state senator from 1900. Born August 8 1849 in Ashland County Ohio he had a long career in public service and agriculture. He leaves his wife and two siblings, Elza in California and Mrs Blakley in Nevada. Funeral arrangements are pending with Masons conducting services.
