Income Tax Agent to Visit Dillon for 1917 Returns
Collector W C Whaley announces a federal income tax officer will be in Dillon January 2–7 to help residents prepare 1917 tax returns at no cost. Returns due by March 1, 1918 with penalties from 20 to 1000 dollars for noncompliance. Residents outside counties may also seek the free assistance.

County Superintendents Meet at Dillon for Two Week Course
Montana county school superintendents will gather in Dillon to start a two week instruction program at the Normal college. Miss May Trumper state superintendent will attend with two assistants to aid rural school methods. Prof Clark Dr Finch Miss Bettes and Prof Light head the program with help from Normal training teachers and scholars from Missoula and Helena. The event runs from next Monday December 30 for two weeks and marks Montana’s first two week county superintendent meeting.

PearI S Smith received a long wartime letter dated November 24 from W. T. George in France. He says he is with the 117th Engineering regiment, has crossed weeks ago and remains well. He mentions rain and cool weather, nightly artillery, and hopes to reach Dillon after duties, with holiday greetings and plans for a Christmas turkey if possible.
