Beaverhead Mines Chronicle: Hecla Group and Bannack District Prospects

The Hecla Consolidated Mining company, formed in 1877 in Indianapolis, grew into a major operation under H Knippenberg, yielding over 1.5 million dollars in dividends and expanding with a 100-ton concentrator and enhanced smelter. In Bannack and Bald Mountain districts, Golden Leaf and other mines produced rich ore, with plans for a new wagon road, a large mill, and extensive placers. Prospectors, ore bodies, and new tunnels across Lion Mountain, Cleopatra, Polaris, and Lost Cloud districts mark a flourishing, evolving Montana mining scene.
