Beaverhead Club Plans New Year's Depot Celebration

Beaverhead club arranges a New Year celebration at the Oregon Short Line depot in Dillon to honor its completion. W.R. Armstrong and railroad officials will attend. committees cover reception, finance, decoration, music, refreshments, and floor management for a daylong event with a midnight banquet in the freight room.

Mass meeting to discuss sugar beet proposal in Dillon

Beaverhead farmers are called to a mass meeting next Thursday at 2 PM at the courthouse in Dillon. George R. Featherly reports from a beet field tour and Utah Idaho Sugar company promises expert supervision, labor, and payments for beets plus freight to Blackfoot factory.

Beet Growers Profits From Payette Beets Revealed

The Payette Idaho Enterprise reports on beet harvests and the large shipment to the Nampa factory. Fifteen growers’ actual acreage tons and net profits are detailed to show per acre earnings, noting many others also profited more than the listed cases.

Railroad survey advances for Armstead to Salton line

W A McCutcheon of Gilmore and Pittsburg railroad visits Salmon Idaho on right of way talks. The committee led by N L Andrews W C Shoup and W L Mulkey oversees securing the route to the Lemhi reservation line while attorney John H Padgham handles deeds and agreements. The firm has secured portions from Cruikshank canyon to Gilmore and Armstead to the Rockies summit.

Beaverhead County Commissioners Set 1909 Contracts

Beaverhead County Board met December 7 1908 approving minutes and raising janitor pay to 70 dollars. They ordered expert inspection of the Redrock dam near Monida and approved claims. Adjournments followed as they reviewed road work bridges and crossing plans for Bedrock River Crab Tree and M. P. 320. Bids for poor farm rental and county medical services were opened and awarded to Barnett Walker and Tribune Publishing. others rejected. Contract awards take effect December 12 1908 for one year.

Amee Esse describes mining camps in Utah including the Utah Copper Co operations near Bingham Canyon. He notes concentrators with 6 000 and 4 000 ton daily capacities and a 10 000 ton daily system producing 400 tons of concentrates. Elevations reach 5 000 feet at the concentrator and nine thousand feet at distant mines, with a Sky Railroad linking the sites.
