Dillon to Have New State Bank in Dillon
The Security State Bank will begin business in Dillon around March 1. Promoters Pearl I. Smith of Dillon and C C Thornton of Benson Minnesota plan to charter the bank after recent talks in Helena. The bank will operate from Smith’s building on Bannock street with a fireproof vault and Thornton will manage the bank full time. Thornton brings 14 years at Benson’s First National Bank plus experience in land and loan handling. Smith has long operated in Dillon’s abstract, insurance and farm loan business. The duo has local supporters and aims for immediate success, with furniture and fixtures to be arranged and the bank to open within 60 days.
