Twenty eight young men departed Monday for training camp. A band led the departure as local businesses closed early and a crowd gathered at the depot. Names include Joseph C. New School Clubs Forming In County 1917
The county starts ten new clubs alongside potato, corn, garden canning and bread. Wheat poultry garment making calf pig and baby beef will be offered for ages ten to eighteen under the Extension department of the State College of Agriculture. Mr M J Abbey is state club leader. The War Council of the American Red Cross calls division managers to collect sweaters wristlets and socks from women nationwide for delivery to supply depots. They report purchasing 550000 sweaters three quarters delivered and about 200000 from chapters shipped to camps with remaining stock on hand. Man Breaks Arm in Hay Load Collision

Mrs. Finley M. Cunnard Dies at 73 in Dillon
Mrs. Finley M. Cunnard died at her Dillon home on South Pacific street at 2 am after months of illness caused by brain hemorrhages. She was 73, born December 7, 1844 in Birmingham Ohio. Funeral at 2 pm Wednesday was held at the Cunnard residence with Rev. Groeneveld and Rev. Humphrey officiating. interment in Mountain View cemetery. Survived by her husband, a sister in Cambridge Ohio, and two Montana nephews Clark and Alvin Anderson. She was active in the Presbyterian church and valued by the community.

Toots Smith rural mail carrier was badly hurt when his car struck Mike Lauterbach’s team last night near six thirty. The lights failed, leaving Smith and his father driving in darkness until a following car appeared. The horse was shot after breaking its leg and Charles Smith was scratched.
