National Grange Adjourns After Busy Session in Concord

The National Grange met in Concord New Hampshire on November 27 with debates over land mortgage banks and a near unanimous adoption of resolutions praising local people. Affiliation with Canadian granges, cotton price reductions, anti pauper immigration and funding for headquarters at the Columbian Exposition were approved. The final sine die adjournment came at 10:3. The National Grange report urged pure food and anti option measures. The investment and loan association system was adopted and the session closed. The separate meeting in Lixcum Nebraska on November 26 saw the Farmer's Congress condemn lax interstate commerce laws and call for stronger enforcement. Resolutions favored interior waterways improvements and cheap water routes between the Atlantic and Great Lakes. They supported irrigation funding and opposed Sunday World’s Fair closures. The congress elected Yeoman of Missouri and Delano of Nebraska as president and secretary. Savannah Georgia was named for the December 1893 meeting.
